USDS has secured the third position among stablecoins by market capitalisation.

The token, also known as Sky Dollar, now sits behind only USDT and USDC in the global rankings.

Meanwhile the broader stablecoin sector holds steady near $300.3 billion, with year-to-date (YTD) growth limited to just 0.2%.

How Large Is the USDS Market Cap Right Now?

Recent trackers place USDS between roughly $6.7 billion and $10.5 billion depending on the exact data source and timing.

That figure comfortably clears the next contenders such as Ethena’s USDe and DAI.

In particular, the gap between the top two giants and everyone else remains enormous, yet USDS has clearly separated itself as the leading alternative.

Beyond the headline number, the token continues to maintain its dollar peg with minimal deviation.

Why Has USDS Climbed to Third Place?

The overall stablecoin market has barely expanded this year. USDT and USDC still control approximately 85% of total supply, leaving limited room for others to grow through new demand alone.

Instead, USDS has gained relative share by attracting capital that might otherwise stay in smaller or less liquid alternatives.

At the same time, its design as a crypto-backed stablecoin offers a distinct profile from the fully fiat-reserved leaders.

Additionally,, continued adoption inside DeFi protocols has helped sustain its position even while the wider sector stays flat.

What Does the Flat Stablecoin Market Mean for USDS?

Total stablecoin capitalisation has risen only 0.2% since the start of 2026.

That near-stagnation means most gains for tokens outside the top two come from share shifts rather than fresh inflows.

Still, USDS has managed to hold or expand its ranking under these conditions.

On top of that, the concentration of liquidity in USDT and USDC continues to shape trading and yield opportunities across chains.

Looking ahead, any sustained growth in Sky Dollar will likely depend on deeper integration and user preference rather than broad market expansion.

How Does Sky Dollar Compare With Other Mid-Tier Stablecoins?

USDe, DAI, USD1 and several newer entrants trail USDS by noticeable margins.

While some of those tokens have posted faster percentage growth in shorter windows, none have yet overtaken the third-place slot on a consistent basis.

In addition, the relatively lower trading volume of USDS compared with the top two reflects its more specialised use cases.

Nevertheless, the ranking itself confirms that capital has chosen USDS as the preferred non-fiat-backed option at scale.

USDS occupying the third rank shows a quiet but meaningful shift inside a largely static stablecoin landscape.

With the two dominant issuers still commanding the vast majority of supply, the ability of USDS to maintain clear separation from the rest of the field stands out as one of the more notable developments of the current cycle.
