Stellar just posted another strong quarter as the decentralised finance (DeFi) market heads deeper into the end of 2026.
Official Q3 2026 figures from the Stellar Development Foundation (SDF) show stablecoin transfer volume hitting $25.1 billion, a 121% jump from the previous quarter and a 314% rise year-over-year (YoY).
Total network volume climbed to $33.2 billion, up 71% quarter-over-quarter (QoQ). These numbers show how value continues to move rapidly across the Stellar network.
Meanwhile, real-world assets (RWA) tokenized on Stellar reached $4.1 billion by the end of the quarter.
That figure represents a 36% increase from Q2 and a striking 548% gain compared with the same period last year.
Stablecoin velocity also improved, rising 55% to 50.5. In other words, each dollar of stablecoin market cap turned over more frequently, pointing to genuine payment and settlement activity rather than idle holdings.

Why Did Stellar Stablecoin Volume Grow So Quickly in Q3?
Institutional pilots helped drive the acceleration. On September 9, 2026, U.S. Bank completed a live test of its dollar-backed USBDC stablecoin, moving value between its North American and European entities while using Stellar’s freeze and clawback features.
A Swiss banking consortium launched a parallel pilot around the same time. These real-world tests added fresh institutional flows and demonstrated the network’s compliance-friendly design.
At the same time, broader adoption of stablecoins for cross-border transfers continued to expand.

How Do Developer Activity and Network Reliability Support This Growth?
Monthly active developers hit a record 3,922, ranking Stellar second globally behind only Ethereum according to Electric Capital data.
Full-time developers also reached a quarterly high of 475. Monthly developers stood at 431 as of this publication.

In parallel, the network maintained 99.99% uptime and completed two protocol upgrades while adding new Tier 1 validators.
These infrastructure improvements keep the rails fast, reliable, and ready for higher volumes.
What Comes Next for Utility on the Stellar Network?
CEO Denelle Dixon noted that the assets now exist in meaningful size. The focus therefore shifts toward making them more useful in everyday finance—payments, lending, collateral, and repo markets.
DeFi total value locked (TVL) grew 35% to $264 million during the quarter, offering an early signal of expanding on-chain applications.
The upcoming Meridian 2026 conference in Lisbon slated for October 28-29, 2026 will likely highlight further distribution and product progress.
Overall, Stellar’s Q3 results paint a clear picture of rising stablecoin activity, expanding real-world assets, and a strengthening developer base.
The network continues to position itself as practical infrastructure for moving value efficiently across borders and into new financial use cases.
