Glassnode’s latest on-chain read delivers a clear shift for Bitcoin (BTC).

Buyers finally absorbed the stubborn $85,000 sell wall after nearly a week of repeated tests, and the remaining ask-side orders appear withdrawn.

Reduced liquidity above current levels now opens the door for faster upside moves in BTC.

What Does the Erasure of the $85K BTC Supply Wall Actually Signal?

Market participants watched that $85K–$85.5K cluster on Binance’s spot book grow steadily since late September 2026.

Sellers stacked orders, price probed the lower edge multiple times, yet never cleared it cleanly.

On Wednesday, October 1, 2026, the buyers flipped the script. They took the wall out in full.

Following this clearance, the order book shows thinner resistance higher up. In the same breath, passive liquidity has begun leaning more toward the bid side in recent sessions.

Spot buying pressure has also stepped forward relative to perpetual futures, pointing to genuine demand rather than pure leverage.

How Could This Change Accelerate BTC Price Momentum From Here?

Thinner ask liquidity changes the math of price discovery. When fewer resting sell orders sit overhead, the same volume of aggressive buying produces larger price advances. BTC can therefore travel farther with less effort.

Building on that mechanics, the prior multi-day struggle at $85K had absorbed a meaningful share of short-term seller interest.

Once that supply left the book, the path of least resistance tilted upward. Traders now eye the next psychological and options-related levels near $90K as the fresh magnet.

Moreover, long-term holder cost-basis clusters that once reinforced the $84K–$86K band have been tested and, in this latest episode, partially cleared.

That removes one structural headwind that had capped earlier rallies.

Which Supporting Metrics Strengthen the Case for BTC Right Now?

Short-term holder cost basis still sits well below spot, keeping recent buyers in profit. True Market Mean support around the mid-$70Ks remains intact.

Open interest has stayed relatively restrained, limiting the risk of sudden leverage-driven reversals.

Meanwhile, the shift in spot cumulative volume delta (CVD) versus perpetual CVD suggests organic demand is doing more of the heavy lifting.

These elements together paint a cleaner technical backdrop than the one that existed only days ago.

What Should Bitcoin Market Participants Watch Next?

Price acceptance above the former wall remains the immediate confirmation. Sustained trading and closing levels north of $85.5K would validate the liquidity shift.

Volume expansion on the upside would further reinforce the narrative.

In parallel, any reappearance of dense ask walls higher up, or a sudden return of heavy long-term holder distribution, would warrant caution.

Exchange-traded fund (ETF) flow trends and broader risk-asset correlation also deserve monitoring, yet the order-book change itself currently stands as the dominant near-term catalyst.

Glassnode’s data does not guarantee a straight-line rally, yet it removes a clear and previously stubborn obstacle.

With ask-side liquidity thinned and buyers already demonstrating conviction, BTC now faces a more open runway for accelerated price discovery.
